The installation of stair nosings will vary depending on the subfloor material & the floor covering type.
Installing Protect-A-Tred on Carpet
If fitting nosings over broadloom carpet, it is recommended that the underlay be cut back slightly more than the width of the nosing. This reduces the amount of flexible material under the nosing, allowing a more stable fitting of the nosing to be achieved. The nosing is then screwed down over the carpet & the self adhesive safety insert placed into the base, concealing the fixings for a clean & attractive finish. Also, using the appropriate section, the nosing can be rebated into direct stuck carpet or carpet tiles giving a seamless finish & maximizing safety.
Installing Protect-A-Tred on Vinyl/Ceramic tiles & all hard surfaces
The fitting method is the same as for carpet, except that we recommend that a bedding material is used under the nosing to bond the nosing to the step, eliminate clicking & to fill in low points or undulations in the step surface.
Protect-A-Tred nosings can be used internally or externally.
